A statement from the India Association of Charlotte on this beautiful, donated collage:
The India Association of Charlotte is delighted to donate this artistic collage created by over 40 local Indian-American artists, in recognition of their vital mission in the community. That of helping to enrich the lives of new immigrants who choose to make Charlotte their adopted home, and the broader community here, through cross-cultural connections that foster understanding and help build a thriving culturally diverse community!
Warli painting is an ancient art form mostly created by the tribal people from Western India, that highlights an old culture representing a strong thread of togetherness. The artwork, a collage of 64 canvasses, signifies a door or an entryway, symbolizing an opening. And we fervently hope that it enhances our spirit of welcoming and facilitates meaningful cross-cultural conversations, within the broader community here.
